Probable Causes (ranked)

Fix Steps

  1. 1 Disconnect motor leads at drive output — megger each phase to ground, all should read over 1 Megohm
  2. 2 If motor passes, megger the cable separately — disconnect motor end too and test cable insulation
  3. 3 Open motor terminal box — inspect for moisture, corrosion, or water pooling, dry and reseal
  4. 4 Inspect entire cable run for physical damage — especially at conduit entry points and sharp bends
  5. 5 For long cable runs (>100 ft), add an output line reactor or dV/dt filter between drive and motor
  6. 6 Seal all cable glands and conduit entries with appropriate sealant to prevent moisture ingress
