Probable Causes (ranked)

Fix Steps

  1. 1 Check shuttle battery voltage from the vehicle controller display — compare to minimum operating voltage
  2. 2 Navigate shuttle to a charging position — if it has enough charge to move
  3. 3 Clean charging contacts on the shuttle and on the rail — use fine sandpaper or contact cleaner
  4. 4 Measure charge voltage at the rail — verify charger is outputting correct voltage
  5. 5 Check BMS status — look for cell balance warnings or temperature flags
  6. 6 If battery will not accept charge, plan for battery replacement — match exact chemistry and capacity spec

Field Trick

Shuttle battery charging contacts wear out faster than you'd expect because the shuttle vibrates when running. The contacts arc slightly on every micro-disconnect. Replace charging contacts proactively every 12 months and clean them every month. Corroded contacts cause incomplete charging, which shortens battery life.
