Process Temperature Out of Range

GEN-TEMP1

Process temperature sensor reading is outside configured high or low alarm limits.

Probable Causes (ranked)

Fix Steps

  1. 1 Verify actual temperature with external measurement (IR gun or portable probe)
  2. 2 Compare external reading to sensor reading — if different, sensor is bad
  3. 3 Check heater element — measure resistance and compare to spec
  4. 4 Verify PID controller output — should be modulating, not stuck at 0% or 100%
  5. 5 Check cooling system — fans, pumps, valves operating correctly
  6. 6 Review PID tuning if temperature is oscillating around setpoint

Field Trick

Check the PID output percentage. If it's pegged at 100% and temp is low, you've lost heating capacity. If it's at 0% and temp is high, you've lost cooling.
